How to Use Sportal

Get started with Sportal in minutes. Follow these simple steps to create your account, join teams, organize events, and find pickup games in your area.

Step 1: Create Your Account

Download the app and set up your profile

📱 Download & Sign Up

  1. Download the app from the iOS App Store or Google Play Store
  2. Tap "Sign Up" and enter your email address and create a password
  3. Complete your profile with your name and phone number
  4. Enable notifications so you don't miss event invitations

Step 2: Join or Create a Roster

Connect with your team or start your own

🏃‍♀️ Joining an Existing Roster

  1. Get the roster code from your team manager (6-character code)
  2. Tap "Join Roster" on your home screen
  3. Enter the roster code and tap "Join"
  4. You're in! You'll now see team events and can chat with teammates

⚽ Creating Your Own Roster

  1. Tap "Create Roster" from your home screen
  2. Choose roster type: Team Roster (structured) or Pickup Roster (simple list)
  3. Add roster details: Name, sport, and description
  4. Share your roster code with people you want to invite
  5. Manage members by assigning roles and ranks to your players

🎯 Team vs Pickup Rosters

Team Rosters (Advanced):

  • • Perfect for organized teams and leagues
  • • Create position tags (Forward, Goalie, etc.)
  • • Track member roles and status
  • • Send targeted invitations by position

Pickup Rosters (Simple):

  • • Great for casual pickup groups
  • • Simple ranked member lists
  • • Easy to organize and manage
  • • Perfect for regular pickup games

Step 3: Create an Event

Organize games, practices, or tournaments

🗓️ Creating Your First Event

  1. Tap "Create Event" from your roster or home screen
  2. Choose whether to make it public: If you make it public, anyone can join
  3. Add event details:
    • Event name and description
    • Date and time
    • Sport (choose from 12 available options)
    • Maximum number of players (or unlimited)
  4. Set the location: Search for venues or enter a custom address
  5. Choose manager contact info settings: Show/hide your contact info to attendees
  6. Publish the event and start inviting players!

🔒 Private Events

Best for team practices and roster-only games

  • • Only visible to your roster members
  • • Invite entire roster or specific players
  • • Great for team practices and league games

🌍 Public Events

Perfect for pickup games and meeting new players

  • • Discoverable by players in your area
  • • Anyone can request to join
  • • Ideal for pickup games and casual play

Step 4: Invite Players

Get your teammates to join your events

📧 Inviting from Your Roster

  1. Open your event and go to "Send Invitations" section
  2. Choose a Roster:
    • Team Roster: Choose to invite all team members regardless of max player limit, use tag based distribution of invites, or send by ranked roster list
    • Pickup Roster: Invite all players based on ranked list
  3. Send invitations - players will receive push notifications

📱 Manual Invites

For players not on the app yet

Note: This option is only available after all roster invites have been sent.

  1. Tap "Share Invite" on your event
  2. Choose text message, email, or social media
  3. Send the invitation link to players
  4. They can respond via web without the app

🔄 Auto-Progression

Never worry about finding enough players

  • • When someone declines, the next person is automatically invited
  • • Set your event to "unlimited" or specific player limits
  • • Track responses in real-time

Find Pickup Games

Alternative: Discover games and events in your area

Don't have a roster yet? No problem! You can also use Sportal to find pickup games and events that other people have organized in your area.

🔍 Finding Games Near You

  1. Tap "Explore" from the dashboard tab
  2. Set your search preferences:
    • Distance radius (1-25 miles)
    • Sport type (or "All Sports")
  3. Browse available games - see location, time, and current number of players
  4. Tap on an event to see details and player requirements
  5. Join an Event instantly for open events
  6. See Attendees and directions to the game location

Find games within walking distance or across the city

See how many players have joined and spots available

Smart Notifications

Get alerts about games that match your interests
